The 16th annual The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 league table appeared in yesterday’s Sunday Times. It ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing profits, based on their latest three years of available accounts.

Solarcentury ranks 38th out of 100 and is the only renewable energy company to appear on the list, which also includes recognisable brands like Skyscanner, The White Company, Addison Lee and Krispy Kreme.

Neil Perry, CFO at Solarcentury commented, “Appearing in The Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 is clear demonstration that Solarcentury’s business model is successful within the rapidly growing solar industry. Now building solar projects on three continents, we have developed into a truly global company and annual revenues now exceed £200m. Solar has made its case as a mainstream renewable energy technology and is here to stay. Meanwhile our mission today is as relevant as ever: to promote the widespread adoption of solar in the fight against climate change.”

Solarcentury is one of 26 companies on the list headquartered in London that have made a strong contribution to the local economy, together achieving combined profits of £233m and employing 14,000 staff, having added 4,500 jobs in the last three years.

A typical Profit Track 100 company:
• is medium-sized and managed by founders or family directors
• has between 100 and 1,000 staff
• has average 3 year profit growth ranging from 40% pa to 200% pa
• has profits ranging from £3m – £40m
• around 25% of the companies have private equity backing
